[Birchbox] November - Skinny Dip Collaboration!

This month’s Birchbox is a collaboration between Birchbox and Skinny Dip and the theme is SQUAD GOALS. Skinny Dip is a London based fashion accessory brand specialising in iPhone cases, bags and headphones, it’s a brand that’s growing in popularity and there’s a massive section going on in Topshop having been over there at the weekend myself. Here are my two favourite items!

http://www.skinnydiplondon.com/collections/all/products/iphone-6-silver-glitter-case - I probably spent a good ten minutes playing with this in Topshop and it would be so distracting yet cool to have as your phone case.

Again ranking my products based on favourites!

1.       Lord & Berry Silhouette Neutral Lip Liner RRP £9

Birchbox bio:
Smudged lippie and wobbly lines will be a thing of the past with this neutral liner! Apply it before sweeping on your favourite shade for a super precise lip with no unsighty bleeding. The best part? Its translucency means that you can use it with any and every shade of lipstick!

My review
I’ve been meaning to buy a lip liner for a while, only because I’ve read a couple of articles in magazines and tips from make-up artists, and have seen the perfect lips on celebrities! Applying the lip liner before lipstick has helped me achieve will defined lips. I am also using this lip liner to shade slightly inwards on the lips to get the two tone lipstick effect (for better understanding – I’m trying to achieve the same effect as IU’s lipstick – what she wears in her recent music video and drama) the lip liner definitely helps but it’s not quite there yet. It’s great that this is translucent because it means I can use it with every shade

2.      Delarom Crème Acquaconfort RRP £34

Birchbox bio:
When your complexion feels a little sorry for itself, this rejuvenating cream uses almond, apricot oils and vitamin E to nourish and sooth dehydrated skin from first use – divine!

My review
Squeeze a tiny amount and pat around the face, it spreads very well across the face and you get full coverage for such a little amount used. This cream has a very light feeling, it feels like a thin layer of protection on my face, which I love because I hate thick creams that take ages to dry. However, £34 seems a bit pricey!

3.      Living Proof – No Frizz Nourishing Styling Cream RRP £21

Birchbox bio:
Containing the brand’s ‘healthy hair molecule’ OFPMA, this lotion creates a weightless shield that blocks humidity to leave your hair smooth and sleek, whatever he weather

My review
So OFPMA is a superior way to care for and style hair, and claims to be better than any of the conventional technologies that exist in the market such as silicone and oils. The way it works is that the ‘bulletproof’ molecule creates a thin, invisible shield around every hair strand. It smoothens and repairs the hair’s surface, particularly good for those that have dry, jiggered and unhealthy hair.
The word styling cream threw me off a little at first well because one, I was picturing some kind of wax and two, I don’t really style my hair, its straightened and the left to be straight. Honest opinion is the product does the job, I do suffer from frizzy hair and it definitely tames my hair to be les frizzy and more straight and sleek. The product smells good, to me, it smells like lemons and gives me the newly washed and fresh feeling. However, I wouldn’t think it was of a styling cream. I would actually say this has been my favourite hair product from Birchbox so far. It’s not so highly ranked and that’s because I preferred the other products. I would probably purchase this product in person if it want so expensive.

4.      L. Erickson Grab & Go Ponytail Holder RRP £11.50 for a set of 5

Birchbox bio:
Whether you’re sweeping hair off your face to apply make-up or just want to switch up your do halfway through the day, you’ll never be caught short with this handy, metal free, hair tie in your bag.

My review
Now the reason why this product is so high up in my list is because it’s definitely the most useful BIrchbox has given me in the sense that it’s so practical. I use it every day, the colour of the hair tie is a nice brown that matches my hair and it is able to hold up my thick hair very well. Its reliable and I know the hair tie wont snap during the day. It’s a shame we weren’t given more.

5.      Pure and Light Organic Revitalising Facial Exfoliation RRP £25

Birchbox bio:
An incredible 32 active ingredients, from artic oat to antioxidant packed berry extracts, are packed into this gentle exfoliant that leaves skin smooth, radiant and glowing

My review
I’m always a bit conscious about using exfoliators on my skin as my skin is sensitive and I’ve always been told not to exfoliate because it burns sensitive skin and leaves the skin super dry (and this has happened to me in the past). This product has got a ton of good skin ingredients such as immortelle, rose, yiang yiang however when tested, this product was not good for my skin. Though it doesn’t burns much as other products out there, there’s still a slight tingling sensation on the face and it left parts of my face rather dry. So I do not recommend this product if you have sensitive skin. And when using this product, remember to rinse off immediately as per instructions.

6.      Cowshed – Cow Pat Hand Cream RRP £8 (Full size!)

Birchbox bio:
This cheekily-named nourishing hand lotion is packed with rejuvenating essential oils – Grapefruit to uplift and Coriander to soothe – leaving skin moisturised and toned

My review
Grapefruit and coriander – what.
Cowshed has been one of those household brands which I’ve seen around but yet to purchase anything from the brand, so I’m excited to try out one of their products. Okay first, you know the smell of hand cream means everything to me, and this does not smell good. Im trying to find the right words to describe it – it smells like those fancy handwashes in hotels – which you either love or hate but to me, it’s like dipping your hands into your herbs and spices rack. My boyfriend did not appreciate the smell either. On the plus side, the hand cream does the job, it instantly softens and moisturises my hands without the sticky feeling.

To sign off, I am loving the seashell designed box this month

Love, Linh xxx
